Chandra represents innocence and kindness, but also an inquisitive mind. She deeply loves her family, even the sharp tongued Tana, and has special affection for her younger brother, Sri. She loves to hear the origin story from her Amma, but mildly challenges why the Andra always submit to those with power. Can the Andra truly be free in spirit as they work the land for the benefit of others? 

Chandra is a survivor. She reaches up for life during the Great Purge rather than sinking into oblivion. Chandra is more in the background in book one as the object of desire for both Puzzle Pete and Justin. She has a more defined role to play in book two.
