Author's Note for Chandra's Amma

Chandra's Amma

We are the Chosen Ones, the Andra. Children of the Prith. The first gardeners, harvesters, and keepers of the seed. Our roots run strong, and deep. All life is sacred to us.

Chandra’s Amma is a connection to the past and provides someone who can relay the Andra origin story. She represents how people can remain free in spirit even when enslaved. I thought about saving her after the Purge, but how would she survive the passage down the River of Life, and how would she endure the cruel world of Gastown?

We are the Andra. People of the Prith, and we are one with the wheel. We are gardeners, keepers of the seed, and we are blessed.

So Chandra’s Amma slips away, and the wheel turns. Thankfully, the spirit of the Andra and the lesson of The Great Journey live on with Chandra.
