Tana

Tana

Tana marveled at how beautiful she looked in her new red Erupu dress, a gift from her future mother-in-law. Her own mother worked tirelessly all morning applying the kajal, the scented oils, and clarified butter to soften her skin. She combed her hair until every strand was free, and glistened perfectly in place. Tana did not complain like she normally did, even as her mother tugged and pulled. The result meant even amongst the other attractive brides, she was radiant. Today was a special solar and so she remained silent. Her sharp tongue cut indiscriminately, but the deepest lacerations were aimed at her younger sister, Chandra. For some reason, she wounded those closest to her. Not on this solar. She was in high spirits and all was forgiven. A wedding washed away all transgressions. The wheel turned.
